Autumn Spring

When creating this piece I was investigating how to create a blend between the colours. When working with yarns and threads of same length the changes between colours can come across while blocky and defined so getting a smooth transition between the colours can be a challenge. But with multiple attempts of winding the threads together and then winding again against itself I was able to create a smooth blend which creates a powerful impact.

I call this piece Autumn and Spring because I feel as if the centre of the piece has an autumnal warm and the outer edges have a spring like freshness. These two contrasting tones are complemented and harmonised by the blend and transition colours in between them to make a unified piece.
