When I created this piece, it was from the end of July to the beginning of August, and I was reading *Hamnet* by Maggie O'Farrell. I don't know if this is relevant, but I feel that when working in abstraction, anything can affect the outcome. The book is beautiful, yet heartbreaking, and August was unseasonably damp. I worked on this piece for three weeks, carefully shaping the curves and turns, selecting each colour as I was drawn to them. I thoughtfully considered each stitch as it took on its organic form, while subtly manipulating it to ensure it remained within the two-dimensional plane.
You could say that this piece reflects both the environment and the emotions present during its creation, making it deeply personal and unique, but you can also call it pretty, colourful and makes a lovely focal point on a wall.
