Black

As Morticia Addams once said “black is such a happy colour”. You may not agree with that sentiment but it is a bold, vibrant colour. Black stands out, black makes a statement and black has a vibrancy to it. As a crocheter, black can be a nemesis, and this piece definitely was a challenge. Without the perfect lighting working with black threads can become one giant black hole where the stitches hide and can never be found. But completing this piece has made a beautiful statement, the simplicity of using a single colour to create a dynamic piece creating lines and forms that spark a joy within me.

With all the colours in the world, I wanted to create something simplistic, that spoke to me and made a statement. So, with everything in consideration I couldn’t help but think of the immortal words of Morticia Addams “Black is so much more cheerful”.
